A little history…
The Pied Bull is Chester’s oldest coaching house. The building dates back to the 11th Century when it was the official residence of the Recorder of Chester, holding a continuous licence since 1533 and originally named ‘Bull’s Mansion’.
The interior is crammed full of original features such as Jacobean panelling and wall beams that were removed from ships up to 700 years ago. As with most of the older buildings in Chester, the Pied Bull is rumoured to be home to several ghosts and has been visited by several renowned mediums hoping to make contact with these most unusual guests.
Today…
Our bar area is kept sympathetic to the heritage of the building serving fine real ales from our on-site microbrewery as well as regularly changing guest beers from the local area and from all over the UK. We offer a 10% discount on all real ales to CAMRA members with a valid membership card.
Whether it be a gin tasting platter in the beer garden or a real ale in our cosy pub area, our drinks range is designed to complement every season. Our menu consists of a wide range of wines, draught beers, bottled beers and both home brewed and guest real ales. All of this is accompanied by a vast range of spirits including a selection of malt whiskey from all over Scotland and over 30 gins.
